I have numerous colanders in my kitchen, however nothing quite like this one. What makes this one different?? Well first it is an extra large size, it holds a whopping 5 quarts of food. It holds all you will need to strain in one trip to the sink, for most everyday tasks. Strain your noodles, veggies, fruits, etc with ease. The absolute best thing about this strainer is the simple to use trap door in the bottom. Just squeeze upward after straining the water from your food while holding it over its pot and bam, your food drops directly into your pan without spilling the first bite of food. Another neat feature of this colander is the built in stand that holds it up off of the sink and away from any undesired bacteria that may be present on the surface while you are straining. It also makes it easier because you can sit it down, instead of clumsily holding with one hand and trying to pour your hot food with the other. No more accidental burns. It is easily cleaned with soap and water.

I personally put this to use with french fries. I like to place my fries in a colander on a plate to drain excess oil from the fries. It also makes it easy to salt and "toss" them. This particular product is very nice for use in this manner. We fixed 2 batches of fries and the colander held them, plus had much more room for more. It stood above the plate allowing the oil drippings to drain completely from the fries. It was easy to salt and toss with the large size without spilling any while you toss. Then when it came time to serve the fries, simply hold them over the plate and dispense by using the smart door. Dispense as many or few as you like. I really do like this colander and you will too. Negatives about this product:
     I can really find no negatives regarding the design of this product, it does just what it is intended to do.
     I think it could use maybe a hole in the handle for hanging, being it is such a large colander (would take up quite a bit of room trying to store it), however the item is as described and performs as expected. A hole for hanging is merely a suggestion that could improve the product further.
